Our Mission:

GreenCare for Troops is a nationwide outreach program coordinated by Project EverGreen that connects local green industry professionals with men and women serving our country in the armed forces away from home.

GreenCare is in the process of helping more than 2,200 volunteers provide free lawn and landscape services for more than 8,000 military families nationwide. The cost to manage the GreenCare for Troops Program is underwritten by Cub Cadet Commercial.

Buck It Up for Military Families

Project EverGreen’s signature program is GreenCare for Troops, a national program that provides free lawn and landscape service to military families where the major breadwinner is serving overseas. It is three years old, helping 8,000 military families through a national network of 2,200 volunteers. The GreenCare for Troops program has received national attention and was featured on NBC Nightly News and the NBC Weekend Today Show last fall. You can view the piece below.

Buck It Up For Our Military Families (a part of Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops Program) is a national program launched in March and concluding with a week of thanks to our military families set for mid-May. The program is an extension of our nationally-known GreenCare for Troops program, which provides free lawn and landscape services for military families where the major breadwinner is serving overseas.

Buck it Up is a chance to give thanks to our military families and gives consumers from urban to suburban to rural areas a chance to give $1 (or $5 or $10) to Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops program. You can view our Buck It Up music video below:

Buck it Up proceeds will go to:
Create a scholarship program for military family members seeking a career in the horticultural industry, and
Increase our infrastructure to better handle the 8,000 military families and 2,200 volunteers participating in GreenCare for Troops.
Enhance our free lawn and landscape service,

We plan to use at least 60% of the funds collected for college scholarships, the remaining to provide expense money for some GreenCare for Troops volunteers and funding to supplement the infrastructure of Project EverGreen to help implement the program.

HOW CAN AN ORGANIZATION GET INVOLVED?

What a great opportunity for members/employees of any organization/company to get involved in the Buck it Up program in a strategic partnership with Project EverGreen. How?

1. Join with Project EverGreen and make a donation individually, through your company and/or your customers. We will provide the simple single sheet about the promotion for you at your business/office, etc. You provide the bucket/container to hold the $1 or $5 or $10 donated by your customers/employees, etc.

2. Maybe the organization you work for can match the donations of the employees.

3. And logistically it’s simple. Collect the money (of course you’re on your honor), put it in your bank account, write us a check (payable to Project EverGreen Buck it Up) and send it to us at: Project EverGreen, 120 Main St. West, PO Box 156, New Prague, MN 56071.

OTHER ELEMENTS OF PROGRAM
To promote ‘Buck it Up’ throughout the country we are marketing the program through several efforts. Some include:

  • Using social media like FaceBook, LinkedIn, YouTube and other similar media to get the word out to consumers.
  • Working with a national marketing magazine (AgriMarketing magazine) through ads, articles, blogs, banner ads, etc., to spread the word about the program to marketing executives throughout the country.
  • Working with Green Industry suppliers, landscapers, lawn care operators, and other end-users to promote the program to their employees and consumer customers. Our EverGreen Zone initiatives in Akron, OH, and Milwaukee, WI, will see a barrage of publicity and promotional materials about Buck it Up through the next several months.
  • We are working with national and state green industry trade associations to promote the program with their own members and customers. We are promoting the program through the Garden Writers of America. We are working to promote the program to consumers through golf courses nationally.
  • Working with the Turf & Ornamental Communicators Association and its 200 members to get involved by promoting it to their readers/listeners/viewers and company employees, customers, etc.
  • Working with NAFB and its 110 radio stations and networks (which extend to 1,800 stations throughout the country).
  • Collaborating with the Garden Centers of America (400 members) to promote and raise money at its locations throughout the country.

IN CONCLUSION
This is simply a program about helping America's military families and sustaining a non-profit organization like Project EverGreen so consumers everywhere understand the environmental, lifestyle and economic benefits of managed green spaces. As our mission says: "To preserve and enhance green space in our communities for today and future generations."
