Project EverGreen Launches "GreenCare for Troops: Serving You While You Serve Us" to Enlist Green Industry Providers in National Outreach Program

Free lawn care for families of armed forces personnel whose major breadwinner is serving in the Middle East: This is the mission of “GreenCare for Troops - Serving You While You Serve Us,” a public service program now being launched by the national, non-profit organization Project EverGreen. The program is designed to match affected families with local lawn and landscape contractors who have volunteered their services.

Project EverGreen has enlisted former Marine Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee “Gunny” Ermey as its spokesperson for the program. Well-known for his roles on screen and TV, Gunny says, “The lawn and landscape industry recognizes the financial and emotional sacrifices being made by our men and women serving overseas. With GreenCare for Troops, Project EverGreen is pooling the green industry’s resources to help as many military families as possible with the maintenance of lawns and landscapes.”

Families interested in participating in GreenCare for Troops can get more information in two ways:

  • Accessing www.projectevergreen.com/gcft and completing an online application.
  • Making a toll-free phone call to (877) 758-4835 to have an application mailed.

“There is no cost or obligation to families who apply to participate in GreenCare for Troops,” explains Project EverGreen Executive Director Den Gardner. “We will make every effort to link them with local lawn and landscape firms who have indicated a desire to help. However, since this is strictly a volunteer program, we cannot guarantee assistance to everyone who applies. But we will do our best to hook up families with local companies.”

Project EverGreen is a national non-profit organization representing service providers, associations, suppliers/distributors, media companies, other organizations and individuals affiliated with the green industry. Project EverGreen’s mission is to preserve and enhance green space in our communities for today and future generations.
