As part of its investment in the future of the green industry, national non-profit organization Project EverGreen welcomes any military family member who is a college student pursuing an education in the green industry to apply for its 2010 Buck it Up for Military Families scholarship. The scholarship program is a part of Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops program. Project EverGreen will award two $2,500 scholarships to students working toward a major or minor in a field related to the green industry. This includes studies such as: horticulture, plant sciences, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, water management, etc. Applications must be postmarked by November 30, 2010.
“The green industry is an ever-expanding field with a wide variety of career possibilities,” says Den Gardner, executive director of Project EverGreen. “Our goal is not only to assist those students with the greatest need, but to inspire and support students who share our passion for this industry.”
Eligibility, as determined by a committee made up of members of the Project EverGreen Board of Directors, extends to two- and four-year program students who are a part of a military family attending institutions that offer turf, landscape and golf management curriculums.
“This is the first year for the Buck it Up for Military Families scholarships,” Gardner says. “This is a way for us to give back to our military families for their support.”
